On the morning of December 12, the commissioning ceremony of the Times Electric (Hubei) Heavy Truck Drive System Production Base was held in Suizhou, Hubei.

This production launch ceremony not only marks another milestone in CDTL’s capacity expansion but also serves as a grand gathering for its ecosystem partners. Liu Junwei, a member of the Suizhou Municipal Government Party Committee, Jiang Hao, Secretary of the Zengdu District Committee, He Sheng, Mayor of Zengdu District, Li Yifang, Deputy Secretary of the Zengdu District Committee, Luo Juntao, Deputy Mayor of Zengdu District, and principal leaders from various bureaus attended to offer their congratulations.

A total of 28 outstanding special-purpose vehicle industry enterprises from Suizhou were present; strategic ecosystem partners CATL, Xiamen Guomao Chuangcheng Financing, Fujian Haixi Financial Leasing, Jiechen Environment, Horizon Robotics, and representatives of CDTL’s core shareholders also graced the event, witnessing this important moment together.

The ceremony was presided over by Luo Juntao, Deputy Mayor of Zengdu District. CDTL Chairman Luo Xunqiang, Senior Strategic Advisor Zhang Weihong, and Chen Yong, President of the Suizhou Automobile Industry Association, delivered speeches respectively. Jiang Hao, Secretary of the Zengdu District Committee, gave the closing remarks.

At the production launch ceremony, CDTL, Xingchen Automobile, and Kaili Special Vehicle jointly signed an order agreement for the first batch of 1,000 heavy-duty trucks with distributed drive systems.

In his address at the ceremony, CDTL Chairman Luo Xunqiang stated that the penetration rate of new energy commercial vehicles, especially new energy heavy-duty trucks, is expected to exceed 10% in 2024, while the penetration rate of new energy in special-purpose vehicles is expected to exceed 22%. This is projected to grow rapidly at an extremely high rate in the foreseeable future, reaching a very high penetration rate by 2027.

According to an analysis report by Boston Consulting Group, the future form of new energy heavy-duty trucks will evolve towards high integration and high intelligence. Distributed drive and distributed braking (EMB) will effectively improve vehicle layout space, reduce the vehicle’s center of gravity and energy consumption, and enhance vehicle control precision and safety.

Especially in the application of special-purpose vehicles, the application of distributed drive + distributed braking will save more than 40% of layout space and improve control precision by more than 30%, laying a solid foundation for the convenient layout of special-purpose vehicle superstructures and the subsequent expansion of autonomous driving.

Suizhou, with an annual production of 200,000 commercial special-purpose vehicles, is known as the “Capital of Special-Purpose Vehicles” and is currently in the early stages of new energy commercial vehicle penetration. CDTL’s Hubei base commercial heavy-duty truck distributed drive production line is close to the special-purpose vehicle market and will grow together with Suizhou special-purpose vehicle manufacturers.

Zhang Weihong, Senior Strategic Advisor of CDTL, then delivered a speech, in which he highly praised CDTL’s achievements in recent years and commended the Suizhou government for its firm determination and strong action in promoting the transformation and upgrading of the heavy truck industry towards new energy.

In his speech, Chen Yong, president of the Suizhou Automobile Industry Association, highly praised CDTL’s technical approach to distributed drive and distributed braking EMB products, as well as the unique advantages of CDTL products in the chassis layout and superstructure of special vehicles in Suizhou.

In his speech, Secretary Jiang Hao pointed out that it is crucial to empower and support enterprise development, promoting complementary advantages and win-win development. He expressed his expectations for all resource providers, especially the Suizhou Automobile Industry Association and the vast number of special-purpose vehicle companies, calling on everyone to jointly propel the transformation and development of Suizhou’s special-purpose vehicle industry to a new level.

He also highly praised the commissioning of the CDTL (Hubei) production base, stating, “The commissioning of this production base is a key link in CDTL’s capacity expansion and a necessary path for Suizhou’s special-purpose vehicle industry to transform from machining to precision manufacturing and electromechanical manufacturing, filling the final piece of the puzzle in Suizhou’s special-purpose vehicle transformation towards new energy vehicles.”
